Once home to several sardine canning factories, the waters surrounding Cannery Row today have become a sanctuary to a thriving marine ecosystem. To compliment the festive atmosphere in this magical gem of a city, we have been proudly offering our exquisite interpretation of Indian cuisine. Realizing that visitors to the town might have limited time to spare, we offer an expedient lunch buffet that is freshly prepared every morning, and rotated to maintain freshness. We also have a cozy dining area with a-la-carte options for those with a moment to spare.
Ambrosia Restaurant on Cannery Row offers an open, airy, and culturally decorated place to enjoy an Indian cuisine buffet. I enjoy a salad with Raita yogurt dressing, freshly baked and delicious Nan bread, rice, and discover a fragrant variety of already prepared meat and vegetarian dishes including the popular Tandoori Chicken. I finish with a very simple syrup dessert and fresh fruit. While I can\'t remember names of all the changing items served on the buffet, I have always found enough to satisfy my appetite. They also offer a full menu of creations to select from if you steer away from buffets. The service from Razu and Ganesh/Sondeep has been very courteous and helpful without being intrusive. Visit during the week to avoid the crowd, traffic and parking issues if you can; you won\'t leave hungry.- Roxanne M.
My brother and I went to Monterey Cannery Row for a visit. We often had conversations about Indian food. I never had Indian food because I thought they were too spicy for me. We strolled down Cannery row where we spotted an Indian restaurant and decided to dine there. It was the \"Best\" Indian food restaurant for mild and spicy Indian cuisine. They cater to your dining needs whether you are a vegan or not, and whether you like your dish mild or spicy. The have crab cakes, seafood, chicken, lamb, pre-fixed platters as well as soup and/or salad. If you have catering needs you can give them a call. You can also make online reservations as well as order To-Go. We had a variety of Naan, Bhindi Masala, and Mattar Paneer. One of our servers/waiters was Mavi. That evening Mavi and his team made our dining experience memorable. Mavi and Food and Service were excellent!!! Their Masala tea was to die for. It was freshly made where the aromatic spices permeates the air. As a result the next day I went to my local Indian market to buy the Masala tea with tea leaves (not tea bags) and spices. If you happen to be in Monterey Cannery Row, my brother and I recommend Ambrosia India Bistro.- Naomi L. Gee
I had booked the restaurant for my wedding lunch and the food was very delicious. I had guests coming in from different parts of the world and everyone loved it. The appetizers, the entrees, the naan and the desert was freshly cooked and tasted just the way we wanted for my wedding. The owner Sam was generously enough to give us with an extra entree of chicken to the already decided menu for a guest count of 100 people as our wedding gift. They also served jain food which was also tasty. Thumps up to the entire team for making my wedding lunch a memorable one for me and my guests. We will definitely eat at Ambrosia whenever we visit Monterey.- ronil sawant
We stumbled upon this convenient Indian Restaurant while staying across the street on a recent outing in Monterey CA. When we walked in the door we knew there was no mistake in our choice. Krishna Das on the house stereo set the mood, being fans and friends. We were greeted by the waitstaff promptly and given our choice of seats. They have what looked like and Incredible Buffet going on as well but as Vegans we asked if they could accommodate our food preferences, which they did without hesitation and amazing guidance and help no less. They had many Vegetarian offerings on the menu that they\'ll gladly prepare Vegan. But fear not, they also have an elaborate menu of all types of meat, fish and poultry for those who prefer that fare which also looked as equally amazing. In summation, just go and enjoy, you\'ll be glad you did. Also for the Newbies to Indian Cuisine, a buffet is a Great Way to \"test the waters\". Take a spoon of this and a spoon of that and try it, then head back for your faves and take as much as you would want to fulfill your every desire... I\'m sure you\'ll find many new flavors and tastes !!!- Stephen C
